As a health and fitness editor, I know my way around an athleisure store and can list off my favorite leggings, sports bras, and sneakers in seconds. But I’m slightly ashamed to say that when it comes to the best women’s underwear, I’m a little more clueless and have been wearing the same pairs I’ve had since high school—up until recently.
Needless to say, it was time for a major upgrade. I tested my way through our staff’s favorite underwear brands, and these pairs win out when it comes to comfort, breathability, and style.
Without a doubt, this is my favorite pair on the list. They run true to size and fit really well. Plus, they’re extremely comfortable, cradling my butt, almost giving it a hug. I like a thicker waistband and lining because they help me feel more secure and lock everything in, so these are perfect. I also love that the material is breathable, but not too thin. I would absolutely buy more pairs of these undies in different colors (there are so many!).
Style-wise, this is the cutest pair of underwear I have, coming in a cute pink shade with a lace waistband—but they deliver on functionality too. They’re breathable, comfortable to sleep in, and feel soft against my skin. While I wish they were less cheeky (I like a bit more coverage), I’d definitely go out and buy these on my own. I even think they’re cute enough to double as lingerie and sleep underwear.
I’ve been wearing this pair from ThirdLove for years—meaning they’re durable, and they feel just the same, quality- and stretch-wise, as they did on day one. If anything, they’ve only become softer. They support my butt and don’t dig into the skin, plus they’re super breathable. One of my favorite things about them is that the seams aren’t too obvious either, and they’re comfortable enough to wear for sleeping or under trousers when I’m at work. Lastly, the waistband doesn’t fall or ride up.
I typically go for underwear with a thicker fabric, so I didn’t think I’d love this pair as much as I do! They’re stretchy, breathable, and invisible under work pants while still giving me so much coverage. They also come in such cute colors in the 3-pack—I love the blue and pink specifically—and they feel very secure with little slippage.
These undies are really lightweight and breathable, and come in a few colors. They have less coverage than some of the others on the list, which is good for people who like more of a cheeky feel. The fabric is also very comfortable, and I’ll definitely use these for sleeping and under bottoms that aren’t super form-fitting, since they do have a noticeable seam. I would say they run a little small, so it’s good for people who like a tighter fit that makes them feel like everything is locked in.
These remind me of the pair from Quince, but they’re a lot stretchier and have more coverage, which makes them feel less tight. I’d still say they run a bit small, but they stretch, so it’s not a deal breaker for me. I like that they have more coverage, and the waistband helps them stay up so I don’t have to adjust anything as I move around; they feel really secure. The colors are super cute, and I like that they have more coverage. They keep everything locked in. I’ll wear them to bed and under bottoms that aren’t as form-fitting. The fabric is thin and breathable, so I don’t overheat or sweat while wearing them.
